Part of Jennifer Nauck’s Encalmo series—each piece named in honor of Venetian women glassblowers—the Mariettavase pays tribute to the heritage of glassmaking and the quiet strength of skilled hands. Executed using the Italian Encalmo technique, two molten glass forms are joined with exacting care, becoming one unified vessel—a process as poetic as it is precise.
The Marietta features a gently rounded form, balanced and grounded. Subtle bands of color wrap around the piece, suggesting movement and stillness in equal measure—like light drifting across water.
