This goblet was the first of several that we created using a twisted aqua-colored cane. It is the only one in the series that also features a blown cane foot. Simple in shape, but complicated in technique, this goblet was created over two days. On the first day, two sets of canes are pulled. The first is a simple filigrana cane, which is a single color glass surrounded by clear that is pulled to a length of over 30 feet. The resulting cane is then cut into 6" lengths that are picked up on a large gather of clear glass that is shaped into a rectangle, four canes on one long flat side, and four on the other. That rectangle is gathered over again with clear glass and heated and pulled long while it's twisted, forming a complex double twist of filigrana. That cane is again cut into lengths, which are rolled up and blown to form the bubble that makes the cup and the bubble that makes the foot. The two pieces are joined with a simple avolio. This goblet was created on May 7, 2024, and measures 6 1/2" tall and 4" wide. It comes in a custom-made wooden box to for storage and safe keeping.
