The Wakefield Goblets | Twisty Cane Tazza

The delicate filagrana cane used to create the complex white pattern in the Twisty Cane Tazza goblet takes days to make, but Eben loves to pull cane, and he's very good at it.  Only once the cane has been finished can the goblet making begin. The cane was cut, fused and rolled up into a cylinder to create the cup.  The tazza-shaped cup is attached to a blown stem by an avolio, and the stem is fitted to the traditional blown foot with a merese. The foot was made with a turned under edge, which makes an otherwise thin, delicate base stronger. 

This labor-intensive goblet was created over several days and finished on May 14, 2024. It measures 6.75”h x 5”d. It is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a custom-fitted handmade sapele wood box engraved with the artist’s signature.
