Eben Horton is not the type of guy who needs or necessarily likes a lot of attention. Unfortunately for him that's exactly what he's been getting as of late thanks to The Glass Float Project he created.

It was 30 years ago when the idea was hatched for what is now an immensely popular interactive public art installation on Block Island.

Part scavenger hunt, part interactive art installation, The Glass Float Project attracts itinerant float hunters from across the country to the island.

So, you've taken the ferry from the mainland, and you're hiking one of Block Island's more than 30 miles of trails, and then bingo! You've just become one of the lucky ones – people who, since 2012, have been finding Block Island's hidden treasure: hand-blown glass orbs.

Each year, glass artists Jen Nauck and Eben Horton create 550 glass floats to hide on Block Island. This public art installation is an interaction between the artists and the public, bringing joy to people from around the country who visit Block Island to hunt for these treasures.
