Jeremy Sinkus

Jeremy Sinkus is a glass artist based in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, whose work explores the intersection of geology, the ocean, and human creativity. With a practice rooted in flame working, casting, and cold working, Sinkus creates glass pieces that mimic mineral formations, aquatic environments, and the subtle forces that shape the natural world.
Sinkus began working with glass in 1998, first drawn to the independence of flame working in borosilicate glass. His work evolved with the introduction of cast glass techniques in 2015, allowing for greater precision, scale, and sculptural depth. Drawing on his background in gem cutting, Sinkus blends traditional glass techniques with lapidary tools to create pieces that reflect the slow, powerful processes of geology and the fragile beauty of marine life.
His studio, powered by hydroelectric energy from the nearby Deerfield River, is a daily workshop for flame working, casting, metal deposition, cold work, welding, and more. Sinkus’s work has been exhibited at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show and the Imagine Museum’s Pivot Exhibition, and has been featured in publications such as Rocks and Minerals, Journal of Gemology, The Flow, and Niche Magazine.
Through his geological and aquatic-inspired designs, Sinkus captures the clarity, movement, and emotional resonance of the natural world in glass, offering viewers a glimpse into the powerful forces that shape both earth and sea.
