This goblet was made early in our spring Venetian-style goblet exploration. It features a technique in the cup called mezza stampaura, which means "half molding," or mezza stampo in this country. Vertical ribs are created on the bottom of the cup by dipping the initial bubble into the furnace and taking a half gather. The cup is then stuffed into a blow mold and further inflated. The ribs left by the blow mold are further defined by pinching with tweezers. The result is this tulip-shaped cup  with a ribbed bottom. We finished the piece with a stem that features a delightful frog sitting on a lily pad. The lily pad sits on a blown knopp that connects it to the blown foot. This goblet was created on April 16, 2024. It measures 7 1/2 tall and 3 1/2" wide. It comes in a custom-made wooden box to help protect it when it is not in use or displayed.
