17th Century Venetian glassblowers tended to repeat design motifs across studios–the dragon stem showcasing the epitome of their skills. When Venetian-style glass was revived in the 19th century, modern glassmakers took the opportunity to add their own trademarks to the style, designing stems that are far more varied than earlier goblets.
The Gold Leaf Glass Float goblet could only have been made by one man: Eben Horton. The miniature float stem is adorned with 24k gold leaf and a tiny stamp of Block Island. It's a perfect copy in miniature of the original Float #1, hidden in 2011. This iconic goblet also features an elegant traditional blown foot with a turned under edge.
This labor-intensive goblet was created over several days and finished on May 28, 2024. It measures 5.5"h x 5"d. It is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a custom-fitted handmade sapele wood box engraved with the artist’s signature.
