Cate Gundlah

Cate Gundlah was born in New Jersey and raised in a creative, hands-on family. She began drawing and painting at an early age and later developed a deep interest in glass. In the late 1990s, while renovating her home, she discovered stained glass and soon began crafting her own work. She transitioned to fused glass in the early 2000s after taking classes in bead-making, and has been working in the medium ever since.

Gundlah’s work spans lampworked beads and kiln-formed glass, marked by a strong sense of color, material curiosity, and craftsmanship. Her glasswork plays with both subtle and vibrant palettes, emphasizing the chemical and visual interplay of flame, heat, and glass.

She has exhibited at The Butternut Gallery in Montrose, Pennsylvania, and participates regularly in fine art and fine craft shows across New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Her studio is located on the second floor of a barn at her home in rural New York State, where she has lived and worked since 2018.
