vesicular glass wall sculpture
Seafoam is our first piece of vesicular glass wall art from Jeremy Sinkus' studio. In spite of appearances, the wall sculpture is a round panel of glass, manipulated to expand into a foam-like structure in the kiln. It's hard to remember that glass is an organic material, but Sinkus' latest experiments with vesicular glass bring that to the fore, creating glass sculpture with entirely unexpected texture and form.
What is vesicular glass?
Vesicular glass is lava, recreated in the studio. Millions of microbubbles (created through science, not magic, though the line does blur) expand the glass into a lava rock substance much like pumice.
