flame-worked dichroic glass sculptureSinkus’ Squid series demonstrates his mastery of the flame-working technique while offering a dynamic foundation upon which to constantly reinterpret the ever-shifting appearance of these charismatic mollusks. Dichroic glass recreates bioluminescence and color-shifting chromatophores. Metachrosis - the physiological process that allows the squid to change its appearance in the blink of any eye - allows for a world in which Sinkus’ Dichroic Squid and its companion piece Amber Squid are representations of the same creature, only moments apart.
