Catherine Labonte

Catherine Labonté is a Canadian glass artist and the founder of Cat Designer Verrier, a studio known for its colorful, whimsical blown glass animals. Her work, designed to bring joy and humor to everyday life, reflects a deep commitment to craftsmanship and playful storytelling.

Catherine graduated from Cégep du Vieux-Montréal with degrees in Fine Arts and Glass Art. Inspired by cartoons since childhood, she creates characters that are both technically challenging and instantly endearing. Since launching her business in 2002, she has earned multiple awards, including the American Niche Award in 2007 and the François-Houdé Prize from the City of Montreal in 2008.

In 2020, Catherine fulfilled a longtime dream by opening her own glassblowing studio in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. Located in the Bedford Lofts building, her studio not only produces her signature creations but also fosters collaborations with other makers in the craft community.
