Kinzig Design Studios

Susan and Caryn Kinzig are the designers behind Kinzig Design Home, a collection of distinctive, handcrafted lamps known for their elegant glass bases, rich fabrics, and timeless style.
Susan Kinzig founded Kinzig Design in San Francisco in 1987, building a national reputation as a jewelry designer. A self-taught artist, she has supported herself through her craft since her teens. After a successful career in graphic design, she shifted focus to jewelry full time, eventually expanding her work into lighting design.
Caryn Kinzig came to the collaboration after leaving a career in investment management in 2002. Long drawn to art and handmade objects, Caryn grew up surrounded by original works collected by her parents and developed a strong eye for color, texture, and form. When the two joined forces, they formed Kinzig Design Home and began designing lamps together.
Their process is fully collaborative. Susan produces the lamp bases in her San Francisco studio, working with glass artists to create custom-blown elements. Caryn sources embroidered silks and specialty fabrics from around the world and sews the shades by hand in her Philadelphia workspace.
Since launching Kinzig Design Home, their lamps have been featured in galleries, design showrooms, and fine home accent stores across the country. Each piece reflects their shared commitment to craft, color, and enduring design.
