Randi Solin

Using glass like a contemporary abstract expressionist, Randi Solin creates vivid, painterly sculptures from her studio in Brattleboro, Vermont. Working in glass for over 30 years, she combines techniques from the American studio art glass movement and classic Venetian glassblowing, building complex, layered compositions from powders, cane, frit, shards, and precious metals.
Solin earned her BFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. She established her first studios in Northern California before relocating to Vermont in 1997, where she now creates her signature work at Fire Arts Vermont. Her pieces blend organic forms with sharp, polished edges, inviting viewers to peer into the glass's interior life, much like reading the rings of a tree.
Collected and exhibited internationally, her work is included in the permanent collections of the White House, nine U.S. Embassies, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and numerous public and private collections worldwide. Through rich coloration and deliberate layering, Solin explores notions of memory, time, and transformation, challenging expectations of glass as a medium.
